Joc Anderson PhotoJoc James A. Anderson was born in the Philippines.  He came to the United States of America at the age of four with his family.  He considers himself a native Californian.  As a child, he grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco attending Marshall elementary school.  The family relocated to Southern California…Gardena.  His high school years at Gardena High School were memorable.  He excelled in academics, student leadership, and was a member of the honor society.  He was a star athlete in track and cross country.

He obtained his Bachelor (Psychology) and Master’s (Counselor Education) degrees from Loma Linda University, Riverside.  The school is now known as La Sierra University.  He earned a Doctor of Psychology, (PsyD. 2001) from Southern California University for Professional Studies with graduate work as well from North Central University, Prescott, Arizona.  His professional work for over 30 years has been in counseling with emphasis in California Workers’ Compensation as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Joc is a nationally Certified Case Manager and Certified Disability Management Specialist.  He was also an instructor for over ten years with Insurance Education Association, Newport Beach, California.  Other counseling work includes addictive personality disorders in:  Drug and Alcohol, gambling, grief recovery, anger management, and sex and credit debt.  For the past five years Joc has been actively involved in gerontology care and counseling work.   His hobbies are:  travel, tennis, chess, sports, reading and spiritual endeavors.  He believes in Christ’s command “if you love me, feed my sheep.”

Joc is a member of La Sierra University Seventh Day Adventist Church in Riverside, California.   This is his first book.
